Pre-Natal Massage
Getting Pregnant

Women who have struggled to get pregnant may find assistance through treatments such as a combination of Neuromuscular Therapy  (NMT)  to release tissue restrictions in the low back and pelvis along with CranioSacral Therapy (CST) to release restrictions in the tissue surrounding the nervous system. This area is the "powerhouse" that feeds energy, nutrients and oxygen to the reproductive system.  Having both partners receive the treatments improves outcomes.

If your doctor has ruled out any internal barriers to conception, such as uterine/ovarian abnormalities, endometriosis, infertility, impotence or low sperm  count, bodywork may hold the answer for you.

"Dude, You got me pregnant! My husband and I have been trying for 8 years to get pregnant! That thing you did at the end of the session, I felt something release, I know that was what did it."  Client  Jen L. 35

Caring for you during pregnancy
During Pregnancy

Pre-natal Massage Therapy is a recommended for a variety of prenancy related issues such as, edema, pre-eclampsia, sciatica, anxiety, and high risk pregnancies. Most importantly massage therapy helps reduce stress hormones, and increases "feel good" hormones. From the American PreNatal Association's website:

" In Women who received bi-weekly massages for only five weeks, hormones such as norepinephrine and cortisol (stress hormones) were reduced and dopamine and serotonin levels were increased (low levels are associated with depression). These changes in hormone levels also led to fewr complicaitons during birth and fewer instances of newborn complications , such as low birth weight. The evedence points strongly to maternal and newborn health benefits when therpeutic massage is incorporated into regular prenatal care.

Feel better with Craniosacral Therapy
Post Partum

Post -Partum depression can surprise some women. They wonder what happened to all those good feelings they were experiencing before birth.

All the new things to learn, 4 am feedings, and crying babies can be extremely overwhelming. Taking care of yourself as a new mother is just as important if not more so than when you were pregnant.

1. Before all that lovely Relaxin Hormone (RH) that loosened up your pelvis in preparation for birth is completely gone, take  time to get some structural bodywork to help "re-set" your hips. Carrying a baby for 9 months can really put your lower body out of balance. (Infants sleeping in their carriers are fine in the room while you are receiving treatment.)

2. The Compression/Decompression Triad of the Spenobasilar joint ( in your head), the Atlanto-occiptal joint (where your head sits on your neck) and the L5-S1 Lumbar/Sacral joint (at the base of your spine and tailbone) is compromised by all the adjustments your body makes to accomodate your pregnancy. Releasing these joints with CranioSacral therapy may help relieve depression. Clients usually say they feel lighter, more relaxed, less stress after a session.

While I was at Quiet Spring for my massage I purchased Botanical Baby Bottom Balm for my newborn boy who was suffering from diaper rash that wasn’t getting better with A&D cream. I could not believe how quickly the rash vanished. I was so impressed with this product that I wanted to take the time to write a testimonial for other moms looking for a great product! Thank you!
